This Raleigh was the bike that Dave used when he first started racing quite a few years ago. This sturdy steed is not the lightest and it certainly isn't the stiffest bike around, but it holds an important place in Dave’s heart. It’s important to remain connected to the reasons we all started to cycle in the first place, whether it’s the joy of winning races or the simplicity of rolling through the empty countryside alone. This bike is a constant reminder for Dave.
The simple setup of a 10-speed Shimano 105 groupset, alongside a pair of stylish Zipp wheels and an FSA and Deda finishing kit, this bike is not about being bling. If anything it’s the understated nature of the bike that shows its true charm. The bike is now geared for comfort above all else as Dave tends to use other bikes for racing. The combination of a flexible carbon fibre frame and a pair of 25mm Continental GP 4000’s works a treat for the gravel strewn side roads that cover the Yorkshire landscape.
The main change has recently been an updated paint job. From the bright whites and reds of its previous outfit, it now sits as a black and white monochrome with small hints of red. The exquisitely finished paint work was completed by the fantastic guys over at Cromaworks in Sheffield and it even includes 2 small Curbar Cycling web addresses on the chain stays.
This bike is a constant work in progress and always provides a comfortable ride year in, year out and is the ‘go to’ bike in Dave’s collection.
